Report of the 15th Session of “SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS”

“The Mylapore Trio” Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna, Sugathan and Members of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation conducted the 15th ‘SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS’ – A Virtual Cultural Meet during this extraordinary pandemic situation and lockdown. It was a unique concept and a different conclave involving professionals of different genre. The BIRDS OF “DIFFERENT FEATHERS’’ FLOCKED TOGETHER. A platform was provided to a Speaker to talk on a subject of his/her choice or profession or expertise and the only criteria are, the topic must be correlated to culture and history. This was followed by an interesting questionnaire session which leads to good interaction. Every week audience learns a new subject enabling themselves to become more knowledge-centric.

The 15th Session was conducted on Sunday, 11th October, 2020 from 4.15pm to 7.00pm. The Programme began with the Prayer on the Trio's Foster Parents Smt. Sumukhi and Shri. Rajasekharan and their Grand Mother Smt. Nagammal, written and sung by Smt. Revathy Sankkaran.

Surendranth said that Sumukhi Amma used to do Dyhanam during Brahma muhurtham every day. She used to imagine the earth as agal, the sea as oil, as wick and Sun as Jyothi. He also said that she has taught us meditation and involved us with the Brahma Kumaris organisation through which we learnt many things.

The day’s Speaker was Smt. Lakshmi Gopalakrishnan who talked about “Vaazhkayin Nokkam” – meditation, yoga and purpose of life. She has done her M.Sc on Yoga and associated herself with ‘Vaazhga Valamudan’ institution for some time. She has gained a lot of experiences in a life after undergoing many training programmes with them.

She said after her retirement she faced so many physical and mental problems and hence indulged in Yoga and Meditation. She has imbibed a good amount of information in Spiritual aspects and Philosophy. She said the purpose of life is to help others and the joy in it is inexplicable. Be good and Do good is the essence of her talk. Her interpretation of Dasavataram by quoting her Guru was superb.

Her speech in Tamizh was amazing and her quotes from Thirumooolar, Thiruvalluvar, Bharathiyar and others were apt and good. She referred to many literary and historical aspects which gave a boost to her speech. On the whole, her talk was very interesting and spiritually resounding and made the audience to open their mind to see and realise the very purpose of life.

Aparna said that Sumukhi Amma gave the Trio an insight into the spiritual world and trained them into various aspects of life. She opened their heart and soul and instilled the purpose of life – To Serve All and Help All. She said Amma taught her to bring about peace of mind even while in the most stressed state of mind.

In the end, Amarnath appreciated the Speaker for her wonderful lecture which he said though was not a new concept, already propounded by great savants and saints of India, the way the speaker explained was very enticing and attractive. He said Amma had taken them to Transcendental Meditation at Kalki Gardens and got them initiated into the spiritual life even at a very young age.

Sugathan felt that Dance & Music is the best way to bring in the peace to body and mind. It not only gives mental relaxation but also makes our thoughts pure and divine. He opines Dance & Music are also a Yoga to lead a peaceful life.

Sugathan’s Naturo Upaya explained the goodness of doing different physical Yoga postures strengthen our physic as well as mind.

As per the diktat of the Foundation, all the participants were in Brown attire.

The Programme ended with a happy note to meet again next week with a different Speaker and a Topic.
