Report of the 2nd Session of “SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS”

“The Mylapore Trio” Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna, Sugathan and Members of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation conducted the 2nd ‘SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS’ – A Virtual Cultural Meet during this extraordinary pandemic situation and lockdown. It was a unique concept and a different conclave involving professionals of different genre. The congregation consisted of a Professor, Art Director, Chartered Accountants, Ph.D Research Scholars, Retd. Principal, P.G.Teachers, Dancers, Musicians and Members of various fields. BIRDS OF “DIFFERENT FEATHERS’’ FLOCKED TOGETHER.

A platform was provided to a speaker to talk on a subject of his choice or profession or expertise followed by a questionnaire session. After a gap of 4 standstill months, this new concept of an Intellectual Meet through Online ‘THREADING VARIOUS FLOWERS OF DIFFERENT NATURE’ was accomplished overnight. THE COMMON THREAD WAS THE FOUNDATION WHICH BINDS ONE AND ALL.

The Second Session was conducted on Sunday, 12th July, 2020 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. The Programme began with the Prayer on the Trio's Foster Parents Smt. Sumukhi and Shri. Rajasekharan and their Grand Mother Smt. Nagammal, written and sung by Smt. Revathy Sankkaran.

The Mylapore Trio welcomed the gathering and explained the new concept. They also shared relevant instances from the Pages of Sumukhi Amma's life, which was related to that Day's Topic.

Surendranath an Art Director, shared some memories of Sumukhi Amma. Once a friend of hers had told her that Sumukhi Amma had done a very wise investment by upbringing Foster Children (Trio) who had been taking care of her during the evening of her life in a very envious manner putting their Heart and Soul….. We were all shocked to hear her statement… because Sumukhi and Rajasekharan did not raise unknown children expecting to take care of them during their old age. The moral of the story is “Real Investment is not Money or Gold or Materials but Dhana Dharmam to third persons without expecting anything in return”.

Amarnath being a Professor of History, referred and cited instances from Indian History regarding Finance, Trade and Marketing. He mentioned about the Coins of Vedic age, Golden age of the Guptas which flourished with abundant of gold coins, Ancient  Sangam Tamils’ trade with Greeks and Romans and South East Asia, Allaudin Khiji’s Market Economy which had far-reaching effects, Muhamad-bin-Tughlaq’s disastrous experiment of Token Currency and of course the Economic reforms introduced during the post-independent India. He scanned the financial history of India by tracing the economic landmarks in the Ancient, Medieval, Modern periods. He thus gave an insight to the audience about the background of the topic.

Aparna, is a Standard and Qualitative Chartered Accountant, an AGM and a Banker with a great framework of Merit and Experience of more than a decade. She, by virtue of being a professional in the financial arena, introduced the Speaker with great elegance and poise.

Shri. Yogesh Narayanan Sundaram C.A., C.F.A, M.S. Finance (USA) – [Chartered Accountant] rendered a talk on ‘Finance Fables’. It was an Excellent Talk on the various aspects of Finance touching upon Money, Trading, Investment, Gold, Real Estates, Marketing, Pension, Currency, Coins, Business and every other aspect of Economy. Though the Topic sounded very technical and meant for Economists and Financiers, Yogesh made it very simple and interesting with 25 attractive slides, enabling even a layman to understand and comprehend easily. The Highlight of the talk was, he connected his lecture to the Financial History of India and narrated fables from Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Chanakya. He also compared the different elements of the economy from the Past to the Present from authentic sources with historical records in the form of Charts, Graphs and Pictures. His anecdotes about Isac Newton’s financial investment and 'Anne Scheiber’s meteoric rise from penury to prosperity was interesting. As Yogesh said he has delivered many specialized Lectures in many Professional Forums but this style of presentation with a Historical and Cultural touch was totally new to him and he enjoyed doing this for the first time. The fabulous lecture of fables given by a High profile Finance Professional was indeed fascinating. The talk was highly appreciated and applauded by the Viewers.

The Second part of the Sadhas was ‘NATURO-UPAYA’ in which Shri. Sugathan – Secretary, who is also a Naturopath gave some Tips on natural remedies for ailments. The members who had tried his tips gave a positive note and comments about his homemade medicinal remedies to their clinical issues.
