Report of the 13th Session of “SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS”

“The Mylapore Trio” Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna, Sugathan and Members of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation conducted the 13th ‘SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS’ – A Virtual Cultural Meet during this extraordinary pandemic situation and lockdown. It was a unique concept and a different conclave involving professionals of different genre. The BIRDS OF “DIFFERENT FEATHERS’’ FLOCKED TOGETHER. A platform was provided to a Speaker to talk on a subject of his/her choice or profession or expertise and the only criteria are, the topic must be correlated to culture and history. This was followed by an interesting questionnaire session which leads to good interaction. Every week audience learns a new subject enabling themselves to become more knowledge-centric.

The 13th Session was conducted on Sunday, 27th September, 2020 from 4.15pm to 7.00pm. The Programme began with the Prayer on the Trio's Foster Parents Smt. Sumukhi and Shri. Rajasekharan and their Grand Mother Smt. Nagammal, written and sung by Smt. Revathy Sankkaran.

At the outset, Amarnath as a History Professor introduced the speaker in a dramatic manner. He in chaste Thamizh, with a pun on words, traced the origin and growth of Gayathri from nowhere to the height of power and responsibility in the Foundation.

Aparna – a Chartered Accountant, spoke about how Gayathri was involved in the Foundation activities and gradually rose to prominence. She said that Gayathri’s experiences here have made her gain confidence and experience to work as a manager elsewhere to administer an NGO.

Surendranth – An Art Director referred to some instances about Smt. Gayathri’s participation in the organisational work. He quoted some anecdotes which were historical in the life of Gayathri, her daughter and son.  These instances highlighted the principles of our organisation like dress code, visiting temples and singing in front of the deities, spiritual experiences etc.

The day’s Speaker was Smt. Gayathri - a parent, volunteer and member of the Foundation. She is one of the most senior among the parents who are associated with our organisation right from the 1st MBU and BCKV through her children. Her topic was “Edhu nadanthatho adhu nandragave nadandatu – Edhu nadakirado adhu nandragave nadakiradu’’. She presented her story of nearly a 2-decade long association with our Foundation through nostalgic photos. She explained the various stages through which she got involved in the various activities of our organisation.

Starting from MBU, BCKV, FA, BG, BVB, PV, NGP, VA, KP, VKPU, MMNC and many more Special Cultural thematic programmes conducted in Academic conferences, Temple Golus, she showed every stage of development. She also talked about her participation in our spiritual and cultural tours to various temples, historical places, cultural centres etc.

She profusely thanked the Mylapore Trio for exposing the talents of not only her children but also her own self. She said her capabilities were brought out by the Trio which otherwise was lying dormant within the four walls of the house. She also gratefully remembered the moment her tiny daughter has conferred a title and an award among thousands of audience at RR sabha, Mylapore. Last but not the least, she said she entered the Foundation as a parent became a volunteer and finally become a family member of the “Sumukhaiva Kudumbakam”

Sugathan’s Naturo Upaya explained goodness of “Garlic” and how it can be consumed for various ailments.

As per the diktat of the Foundation, all the participants were in Kalamkari / Block Print motif attire.

The Programme ended with a happy note to meet again next week with a different Speaker and a Topic.
