Memorable Moments... 13th Anniversary & Commemoration of 10th Year "Kala Poshakam"...

“The Mylapore Trio” Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna, Secretary - Sugathan and Members of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation Celebrated its 13th Anniversary & the Commemoration of the 10th Year “Kala Poshakam”, on Saturday, 20th February 2016, at Vivekananda Hall (AC) P.S, Higher Secondary School, Mylapore, Chennai. The Chief Guest of the evening was Shri. R.Kasinath (Retd. Sr. Manager, Canara Bank) whose family was a long time close associate of the Philanthropic Couple Sri. Rajasekharan and Smt. Sumukhi.

According to Sugathan the programme started with an enchanting and vibrating “Pancharatna Kritis” of Saint Thyagaraja, rendered by Smt. Mumbai G. Shilpa and her young disciples. The hall was jam – packed with Rasikas young and old who gave a tremendous applause and encouragement to the group. Some of them even joined the chorus singing. On the dais was placed an antique picture (dated 1931) of the historic scene of Lord Rama and ensemble giving darshan to St.Thyagaraja and his dharma pathni at his humble home. Also was elegantly decorated the colourful Wedding photograph of Sri. Rajasekharan and Smt. Sumukhi. Its been our tradition to invite various music schools every year during the Foundation anniversary render the Pancharatna Kritis.

The Chief Guest Shri. Kasinath gave a very bold, vibrant and dynamic speech about his connection with the Couple and their spiritual, philanthropic and divine nature and their service to the society at large transcending barriers. As a young lad he still remembered their contribution to education to the needy and poor. He thus quoted them “Poverty must not mar the education of Children”. He said he was blessed to be there to speak about Couple at this juncture, since it is the Birth Centenary Year of them. He also appreciated the efforts of the Mylapore Trio, Sugathan and Members in following their footsteps and perpetuating their memory.

On this occasion specially designed Certificates were given to 45 Music Students of Smt. Visalakshi Ramanan & Smt. Rajarajeshwari who attended the 14th Year “Bala Vidhwan Bhavani” on 1st January 2016. Also 21 Children who won Special Prizes in the 14th year “Margazhi Bala Utsavam” Competitions were awarded Proficiency, Multi-Talent and Talent Prizes. All the Children, Parents and Rasikas presented themselves in Traditional Attire.

Sugathan said the Function was a memorable & a distinct experience to one and all…
