Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation's 16th Anniversary...


The Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna and Sugathan – Kalakshetra Alumni and Cultural Ambassadors of Mylapore Celebrated the 16th Anniversary of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation and Commemoration of 13th year “Kala Poshakam” on Friday, 22nd February, at Narada Gana Sabha.
To commemorate the event "Thyagarajar Aaradhanai" was conducted by rendering "Pancharatna Kritis" by the disciples of Smt. Vijaya Nagarajan of "Naadaananda Sangeetha Vidhyalaya" - Ambattur. The Kritis were rendered piously and mellifluously, which was really a Music to the ears.

On this Occasion, Sugathan and his sister Swathy presented a Thematic Bharathanatyam titled “Vasantha Panchami” on Goddess Saraswathy which was exclusively Penned, compiled & sung by Smt. Revathy Sankkaran. Sugathan choreographed the dance in Kalakshetra manner and presented along with his sister in a very elegant style. Swathy was dressed up in rich white costumes as Saraswathy and Sugathan personified as beautiful swan and both their swaying gestures, composed body movements and subtle but rich costume and jewelry were breathe taking. The stage decor and arrangement with the traditional temple Umbrella with a small dais draped with silk sarees added beauty to the already magnificent stage. Both the dance and stage synched well and ultimately the thematic presentation on the Godess of Learning was breathe taking and made the audience spell bound. in Toto it was a dream Dance for one and all.    All the 5 songs were sung by Smt. Revathy Sankkaran in her mellifluous voice presented the Programme very lively. The combination of Divine Dance and Enchanting Music made audience spellbound and go in trance.

Sakala Kala Valli Smt. Revathy Sankkaran also presented "A Talk with Saint Thyagarajar" in which she explained about a dream in which she had a chat with the saint. In that imaginary talk, she interviews him and he answers all her questions with regard to his life. On the whole the Talk about the saint was interesting which gave a lot of information about him. As usual Smt. Revathy presented the story very lively in her own style.

On this Special Day distinct Title and Award were conferred and presented to Kum. Sree Rudra for her versatility and multi-faceted achievements. She has been associated with our Foundation for the past 8 years and has won several prizes in Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Academic Arts during Our Margazhi Bala Utsavams and Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizhas all  through these years. She has also won Talent, Proficiency, Multi Talent Prizes and has been an All Rounder throughout her cultural career in our organization. In recognition of her accomplishments The Mylapore Trio and Sugathan conferred her the Title "Palkalai Vitthagi" and presented her the ALL ROUNDER Award. The award carried a Citation, A Traditional Trophy - an icon of Goddess Saraswathi seated on a Lotus.

On this occasion, Twenty-One Special Prize Winners of 16th “Margazhi Bala Utsavam” received their, Multi-Talent, Proficiency and Talent Prizes and also Participants of 16th year “Bala Vidhwan Bavani” were given away Certificates.

The Auditorium was nearly full with Children, Parents, Guests and Rasikas who cheered the Awardees with their applause and appreciation. The stage decor was of a different variety with  red, green and golden designs. To enhance the flavor, all the Foundation Members presented themselves in gorgeous Traditional Attire.
