5th "Sumukhaiva Sadhas" - Virtual Meet on Sunday, 2nd August, 2020 at 4pm

“The Mylapore Trio” Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna, Sugathan and Members of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation conducted the 5th ‘SUMUKHAIVA SADHAS’ – A Virtual Cultural Meet during this extraordinary pandemic situation and lockdown. It was a unique concept and a different conclave involving professionals of different genre. The congregation consisted of a Professor, Art Director, Chartered Accountants, Ph.D Research Scholar, Retd. Principal, P.G Teachers, Scientist / Dancers, Musicians and Members of various fields. BIRDS OF “DIFFERENT FEATHERS’’ FLOCKED TOGETHER. This week, Visitors from different part of Tamilnadu, Kerala, Bombay, Dubai attended.

A platform was provided to a Speaker to talk on a subject of his/her choice or profession or expertise followed by a questionnaire session. After a gap of 4 standstill months, this new concept of an Intellectual Meet through Online ‘THREADING VARIOUS FLOWERS OF DIFFERENT NATURE’ was accomplished overnight. THE COMMON THREAD WAS THE FOUNDATION WHICH BINDS ONE AND ALL.

The Fifth Session was conducted on Sunday, 2nd August, 2020 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. The Programme began with the Prayer on the Trio's Foster Parents Smt. Sumukhi & Shri. Rajasekharan and their Grand Mother Smt. Nagammal, written and sung by Smt. Revathy Sankkaran.

This was a different Sadhas altogether since it was a dedication by Sugathan to his Guru Late Smt. Thangamani Teacher of Kalakshetra. This was the fourth year “Natya Samarpanam” titled as ‘SRI’ premiered by Sugathan. It was a thematic presentation on Goddess Lakshmi performed by Sugathan and Swathy at their drawing-room. The hall was converted into a mini auditorium and aptly decorated with a red silk cloth with Vaishnavite insignia i.e., Sanku, Chakram and Thirunamam woven in golden threads. The flower was decorated with golden and silver lotuses to suit the theme. Despite time and space constraint, with the limited space and resource available during this lockdown, Sugathan made the impossible possible.

At the outset, Sugathan spoke about his association with his Guru during his study in Kalakshetra and described her virtues. He said that she had a special liking on him and cared for his dancing career. He also welcomed the large number of visitors who had come to watch this dance programme and introduced them to the group.

The Mylapore Trio - Surendranath, Amarnath, Aparna, who are Kalakshetra Alumnus spoke about their association with the great institution. Surendranath said that Smt. Thangamani Teacher has attended some of the Foundation Programmes but had not been able to personally interact with her much. Aparna congratulated Sugathan for his unalloyed Guru Bhakthi and appreciated his planning skill in presenting the programme. Amarnath said that Sugathan has an innovative creative idea similar to that of the Mylapore Trio.

The first item began “Varuga Varga Thirumagale” Song composed and sung by K.Hariprasad. The second number was written and sung by Smt. Revathy Shankaaran in which Sugathan enacted as a Bhaktha praising Goddess Lakshmi. The last but not the least was Kanakadhara storam.

The Brother-Sister Duo rocked the show and Swathy Stole the Show as Saakshaath Goddess Lakshmi. The three numbers which they performed are still in the eyes of the audience. The rasikas were awe about the combination of the duo and their performance made them spellbound. Swathy was made for that role and Sugathan’s role as Adhi Shankara was awesome. The “Real Bhakthi” could be seen in his eyes and body language which is a rare commodity today in the dance world. Their mother Smt. Sudha also an erstwhile dancer played her part very well which aptly suited her. The entire dance was beautifully choreographed by Sugathan and well presented on the auspicious occasion of Aadi Perukku. Inviting the Goddess of Prosperity was very apt and grand.

The Second part of the Sadhas was ‘NATURO-UPAYA’ in which Sugathan – Secretary, who is also a Naturopath gave some Tips on natural remedies for ailments. Today he gave some titbits for headache. He suggested that “Ginger” juice can be applied on the forehead and scalp will help to reduce headache which was well-received by all.

As per the diktat of the Foundation, all the participants were in Traditional Attire with Pink as the Colour Code.

The Programme ended with a happy note to meet again next week with a different Speaker and a Topic.
