The
Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna and Sugathan – Kalakshetra
Alumni and Cultural Ambassadors of Mylapore Celebrated the 17th Anniversary of
Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation and Commemoration of 14th year
“Kala Poshakam” on Sunday, 16th February, 2020, at Vivekananda Hall, Mylapore.
To commemorate the event the Trio and Sugathan conducted it as “Parents’ Day” in memory of their Foster Parents in whose name the Foundation is established. “Sakala Kala Valli” Smt.Revathy Sankkaran spoke on the topic “Sumukhaiva Kudumbakam”. The Senior Members of the Foundation shared their experiences with the organisation for the past 17 years. The parents of special prize winners also participated.
The
programme began with a prayer on the Trio's Foster Parents Smt.Sumukhi and Shri.Rajasekharan
and their Grand Mother Smt.Nagammal, written and sung by Revathy Sankkaran.
Amarnath welcomed the gathering and shared the personal story of the Mylapore
Trio. He said that they were indoctrinated and imbibed with spiritual values by
their Foster Parents and that has made them what they are today as an exemplary
testimony to the next generation. He further said that they were instilled with
Bhakthi and Patriotism by the Sumukhi and Rajasekharan respectively.
Aparna
shared their memorable experience in Kalakshetra and with Smt.Rukmini Devi. She
said that Indian Culture was further inculcated and instilled in them by their
Alma Mater. She further added that Kalakshetra was not a mere School, but it
was a “Way of Life and an Experience”. She felt though being a working
woman, she is able to manage her profession, family and public activity, for
which, she credited her Foster Mother and Grand Mother.
Surendranath
traced the origin and development of the Foundation and went into nostalgic
memories of the past 17 years. He shared many memorable experiences, events and
anecdotes through the journey. He explained the circumstance under which the
Foundation was started and explained the various innovative programmes
conducted by us. He also insisted on the “Dress Code” of the Foundation and
enumerated the important miles stones of the journey. He also described about
the Great Grand Golus of the Trio both at Home and in Temples.
Smt.
Revathy Sankkaran spoke a few words on the subject “Sumukhaiva Kudumbakam” in
which she shared her experiences with Nagammal Paatti, Trio and Sugathan. She
showered encomiums on the Trio for their personal and public discipline,
cultural service, love and care showered on the children & elders and for
the values they have inherited and follow in life. She said that “Sumukhaiva
Kudumbakam” is a family of one and all people irrespective of caste and creed.
She said she felt happy and proud to be associated with the Foundation.
The
Members shared their nostolgic Journey with the Foundation. Smt.Usha
Krishnamurty spoke on the Dress Code and hair style. She said that it was she
who insisted on it right from the day one. She also shared her own experiences
which were of fun and laughter. She was one of the foremost person to support
the Trio with the idea of starting the Foundation.
Smt.Gayathri
was outright in demanding more time than other members since she was the one
and only parent who has been with the Foundation right from day one till date
i.e., 18 years. She traced her association with the organisation from its
origin as a parent and later felt that it was her “Second Home”. She described
about the First “Margazhi Bala Utsavam” and First “Balar Chithirai Kalai vizha”
and felt that times have changed since then.
Smt.Bharathi
who has been with the Foundation from its initial stage spoke about her
daughter who was promoted and brought to lime light on many occasions by the
Foundation. She profusely thanked the Trio for exposing the inherent talent of
her daughter and felt happy to be a part of the Sumukhaiva Kudubam.
The
present generation parents shared their experiences with the Foundation in
their own way. The topic given to them was “ A Journey with the Foundation”.
All the Parents who had gathered there expressed their joy in sharing the dias
and felt delighted to be involved with the organisation and its activities. All
of them were unanimous in hailing the Trio and Sugathan for their Values, Discipline,
Punctuality, Unbiased and the Unique style in conducting various Competitions
& Programmes. They felt that they were learning a lot from the array of
topics given every year and it was an intellectual awakening for them. They
also said that the Foundation is the only organisation which inculcates
cultural and traditional values.
Sugathan
spoke on how he got associated with the Foundation and how he stole the hearts
of the Trio and other Sumukhaiva family members. He said he has been a part of
the Family and the Foundation and felt very happy to conduct and organize
innumerable programmes especially “Kala Poshakam”. Actually its he who started
the second phase of “Kala Poshakam”. He said he has performed on our Foundation
platforms alone and as well with his sister. He has choreographed few dance
items and made the children perform on various occasions. He also shared his
experiences in the Madurai and Srirangam Golus, arranged by the Trio and
himself. He finally proposed the Vote of Thanks and the programme ended
with a happy note.
The
programme was planned only for Two hours but it got extended to Four hours. All
of us were so engrossed in sharing our own experiences….. time did not wait for
us and finally the programme ended up and we all dispersed for the day.
The
Auditorium was nearly full with Children, Parents, Guests. The stage decor was simple
& neat with rose, green and white maalai. To enhance the flavor, all the
Foundation Members presented themselves in elegant Traditional Attire.
