Kindly read the Rules & Regulations of the Event furnished below
Thoroughly & completely and abide by the same.
Those who do not adhere to the Norms of the Event will not be entertained.

*TRADITIONAL ATTIRE (Dress Code of the Foundation mentioned below) is compulsory for all Participants, Parents, Children & Representatives during Registration, Competitions & Prize Distribution Function (VALEDICTION).

Boys: Only Kurtha, Pyjama (No Fancy Pants, Jeans, Cargos, T. Shirt, Dhoti, Shirt)
Girls: Upto 8th Std. – Paavaadai, Chokka. From 9th Std. – Paavaadai, Dhaavani, Saree.
Men: – Kurtha, Pyjama, Dhoti, Pant, Shirt (No Fancy Jeans, Cargos, T. Shirt)
Women: – Only in Saree. (No Sleeveless Chokka / Blouse for Girls & Women)
Common for all Girls - Hair Style: Single Plait (No lose hair). No Fancy Bindhis.
Pottu – Only in Red Colour / Min. Size: 8mm Round or Thilakam.

Registrations from 3rd December 2018 to 13th January, 2019.
For Registration - Participant / Parent / Representative - *Must come in person.
(No Online Registration)
Registration on All Days with prior intimation only.

Working Hours: 10.00am to 12.00noon & 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
Foundation Dress Code Mandatory during Registration for All Participants, Parents, Representatives.

·         *First time Participant – Child must come in person for the Registration along with the Parent, adhering to the Foundation Dress Code.
·         *Existing Participant – Parent or Representative may alone come in person for the Registration, adhering to the Foundation Dress Code.

CLASS LEVELS

Kids Level: Pre.KG, LKG.
Other Levels:
Sub. Junior: – Sec. A – UKG, I Std. & Sec. B – II, III Std.
Junior: – Sec. A – IV, V Std. & Sec. B – VI, VII Std.
Senior: – Sec. A – VIII, IX, X, XI Std. & Sec. B – XII Std. to UG (College).

MINIMUM OF 3 COMPETITIONS (MANDATORY) - A PARTICIPANT MUST REGISTER & TAKE PART IN MINIMUM OF 3 COMPETITIONS (COMPULSORY) & only then He/She is eligible to REGISTER & TAKE PART IN the Participatory Segment.

Once Registered for a Competition, it will not be changed / altered / cancelled.

Registration Fee:

Kids Level: – Pre.KG, LKG.
·         A Registration Fee of Rs. 125/- is charged for each Competition & Participatory Segment. (Venue: Foundation Premises & School Premises)
·         Also Rs. 100/- (Mandatory) to be Paid along with the Registration Fee towards 2 Photos, Solo & Group, which would be taken by the Foundation during Prize Distribution Function.

Other Levels: UKG to UG (College).
·         A Registration Fee of Rs. 250/- each is charged for Bharatanatyam, Keerthanai & Instrumental Music Competitions.
Bharatanatyam - On-stage Competition. Venue: Narada Gana Sabha, Mini Hall, AC.
Keerthanai - On-stage Competition. Mike will be provided. Venue: Vivekananda Hall, AC., P.S. Higher Secondary School.
Instrumental - On-stage Competition. Mike will be provided. Venue: Vivekananda Hall, AC., P.S. Higher Secondary School.
A Registration Fee of Rs.125/- each is charged for all Other Competitions & Participatory Segment.
Other Competitions - Venue: Foundation Premises & School Premises.
·         Also Rs. 100/- (Mandatory) to be Paid along with the Registration Fee towards 2 Photos, Solo & Group, which would be taken by the Foundation during Prize Distribution Function.

Common to All Participants (Kids Level & Other Levels):
No Photos / No Videos by Parents & Others.
Photographs will be posted on Our Blog / Facebook. Hard Copy will not be given.
Photography / Videography – Camera / Handycam by the Parents & Rasikas are strictly prohibited inside the Auditorium, during Competitions & Prize Distribution.

Hall Ticket:

Participant must produce the Hall Ticket at the time of Competitions / Participatory Segment & Prize Distribution Function.
If the Participant fails to produce His/Her Hall Ticket during the Competitions / Participatory Segment & Prize Distribution, a Penalty of Rs. 50/- would be charged & a Duplicate Copy will be issued.

The nature of the Festival is of Two Categories – Competition & Participation.
Competition Dates: 23rd Jan. to 3rd Feb., 2019.
(Subject to change due to unavoidable circumstances)

Kids Level: (Pre.Kg, LKG) - 9 Competitions.
Category 1 – Performing Arts:-
Paapaa Bharatham – Max. 3mins. (Any Language Song
Paavaadai Chokka, Jewelry and Make-up mandatory.
Participant must bring only 1 Song in 1 Audio CD / Pen drive for the performance.
Multiple Tracks CD will not be entertained. Mobile / Video DVD / VCD not allowed.
Audio system will be provided.
Bhajan – Max. 3mins. Any Language – Bhajan. No Film Song.
Thirupaavai – Max. 3mins. (Only 1 song of your choice / Must Sing).

Category 2 – Fine Arts:-
Flower Kolam – Max. 30mins. Use Chalk piece for outline & fill with Real Flowers, Leaves. No Props. (Size 1ft X 1ft Box) Bring all materials.
Flower Vase – Max. 30mins. Bring Pot (any Size/Shape/Material) & Artificial/Real Flowers, Leaves, Twigs etc. Only 1 Flower Vase to be done within the given time. No pre-fabrication.
ColouringMax. 30mins. (Only Colouring)
Bring Colour Pencils / Crayons to fill Colours in an Outline Drawing given by us.

Category 3 – Academic Arts:-
Rhymes (English) – Max. 3mins. No Props.
Story Telling (English) – Max. 3mins. Topic given below. No Props.
Fancy Dress (English) – Max. 2mins. Topic given below. Props allowed, No Backdrops.



Other Levels: (UKG to College) - 19 Competitions.
Category 1 – Performing Arts:-
Bharatanatyam – Max. 5mins. (Any Language Song) - No Alarippu, Jatiswaram & Varnam.
Authentic Costume, Jewelry and Make-up mandatory.
Participant must bring only 1 Song in 1 Audio CD / Pen drive for the performance.
Multiple Tracks CD will not be entertained. Mobile / Video DVD / VCD not allowed.
Audio system will be provided.
Keerthanai – Max. 5mins. Any Language / Any Composer. (Only 1 song of your choice).
Bhajan – Max. 3mins. Any Language / Any Composer.  No Film Song. (Only 1 song of your choice).
Slokam – Max. 3mins. Any Slokam. (Only 1 Slokam of your choice).
Thirupaavai – Max. 3mins. (Only 1 song of your choice / Must Sing).
Thiruvempaavai – Max. 3mins. (Only 1 song of your choice / Must Sing).
Participants must bring their own Sruti Box with Batteries for all Vocal Music Competitions. No Mobile Phones / iPads for playing Sruti.
Instrumental Music – Max. 5mins. (Any Instrument / Any Language Song / Classical -  Devotional)
No Film Song. Must not use Default Programmed Beats while playing on Keyboard.
Bring Keyboard with Batteries.

Category 2 – Fine Arts:-
Podi Kolam – Max. 30mins. Use White Kolam Powder and Kaavi.
No Props. (Size 2ft X 2ft Box) Bring all materials.
Flower KolamMax. 1Hr. Use Chalk-piece for outline & Real Flowers, Leaves. No Props.
(Size 2ft X 2ft Box) Bring all materials. No Props.
Flower Vase – Max. 30mins. Bring Pot (any Size/Shape/Material) & Artificial/Real Flowers, Leaves, Twigs etc.
Only 1 Flower Pot to be done within the given time. No pre-fabrication.
Greeting Card – Max. 45mins. Bring all materials. Can be made with any material, Should be Creative / Innovative / Artistic.
Only 1 Card must be made within the given time. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.
Painting – Max. 1Hr. Topic given below. Bring all other Materials.
Chart alone will be provided by us. (Chart Size A4 = 21 x 29.7cm).
Can use Colour Pencils / Crayons / Water / Poster Colours / Oil Pastel / Sketch Pens.
Craft Work – Max. 1Hr. Topic given below. Bring all materials. Minimum 1 item must be made
within the given time. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.

Category 3 – Academic Arts:-
Hand Writing (English) – Max. 30mins. Content & Ruled Paper will be provided.
Sub. Junior – Sec.A – 4 line Paper. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil etc.
Sub. Junior – Sec.B / Junior – Sec.A&B / Senior – Sec.A&B – Single Ruled Paper. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
Essay Writing (English) – Max. 1Hr. Topic given below. Min. 250 words. Ruled Paper alone will be provided. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
Oratory (English) – Max. 3mins. Topic given below. No Props.
Word Puzzle (English) – Max. 15mins. Topic given below. Content & Paper will be provided. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
Max. 10 Puzzles to be completed & the early bird with Maximum correct answers Wins.
Story Telling (English) – Max. 3mins. Topic given below. No Props.    
Fancy Dress (English) – Max. 2mins. Topic given below. Props allowed, No Backdrops.


Common Theme:– “India is My Country” for the Competitions – Painting, Craft Work, Essay Writing, Oratory, Word  Puzzle, Story Telling, Fancy Dress.

Participatory Segment - Kids Level / Other Levels
 
Bakthi Maalai – Solo - Max. 3mins. / Group - Max. 5mins. (UKG to College) - An exposure to Talk / Recite / Sing / Enact in Any Language. 

Important Instructions

·         Competition Dates: 23rd Jan. to 3rd Feb., 2019. (Subject to change due to unavoidable circumstances)
·         Participant must produce the Receipt cum Hall Ticket (hard copy or soft copy) at the time of Competitions.
·         Competitions cannot be witnessed by the Parents & Rasikas. (Except Bharatanatyam, Keerthanai, Instrumental Music, Fancy Dress & Bakthi Maalai).
·         Reporting Time is 30mins. before each session and must be strictly adhered to. Participants coming Late even after the given grace time of 30mins., from the commencement of the session, will not be eligible for the 1st  / 2nd / 3rd Level Prizes.
·         Participants must stay till the end of each session until the Results are announced & the Results will not be informed over phone.
·         Judge's decision is final and irrevocable; shall not be challenged in any forum.
·         *TRADITIONAL ATTIRE (Dress Code of the Foundation mentioned below) is compulsory for all Participants, Parents, Children & Representatives during Registration, Competitions & Prize Distribution Function (VALEDICTION).

A Gold-Coated Rolling Trophy* Swarna Kalas”- Golden Kalasam in the name of our Grand Mother & Patron Late. Smt. “R. NAGAMMAL, is awarded to Any Institution with above 100 Registrations combined in all 3 Categories viz. Performing Arts / Fine Arts / Academic Arts.

Dance / Music Institution which bags the “Rolling Trophy” shall be given an opportunity for Group Performance in any one of Our Programmes (A Free Platform).

Criteria:

1) To Perform in “KALA POSHAKAM”:-
A Participant (Bharatanatyam & Keerthanai) must have Participated & Won in both “Margazhi Bala Utsavam” 2019 & in “Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha”- 2019 Competitions, shall be given an opportunity for Solo Performance in Our Monthly Concert “Kala Poshakam” (A Free Platform to showcase your Talent) at the discretion of the Foundation.

2) To Compete for “TITLE & AWARD”:-
The Winners of Dance & Music Competitions of “Margazhi Bala Utsavam” & “Balar Chithirai Kalai Vizha” (a minimum of 2 consecutive years) & who have showcased Solo Performance in “Kala Poshakam”, “Bala Vidhwan Bavani” & “Mottamaadi Nilaa Cutchery” Programmes are alone eligible to Compete for a “Title & Award”.

The Children who participate in the 17th Year “Margazhi Bala Utsavam”- 2019
are alone eligible to receive their Participation Certificate / Medals / Prizes.
During the Prize Distribution, only the Participant must come in person to receive it on Stage.
Parents / Representatives cannot receive it.
