KASI CALLS AGAIN

The Mylapore Trio, Sugathan and Smt. Chella Mami undertook a pilgrimage to Varanasi during the middle of August. They stayed in the holy place for a week and visited all-important temples. They worshipped Lord Vishwanatha, Goddess Annapoorani, Goddess Visalakshi many times to their heart’s content. They were even blessed to touch Kasi Vishvanatha once (public are not allowed to touch now days, due to security reasons except during specific timing). The group had holy bath in the Ganges, went on boating, saw all the ghats and also witnessed Ganga Aarthi- a spectacular vision indeed. They had the opportunity to have prasadams at Naatukottai Chatram, Annapoorani Mutt few times.

The group had darshan of Kalabairavar, Kamakoti Peetam, Sankara Mutt, Kedarnath Temple, Kumaraswamy Mutt – all at Hanuman ghat. Sugathan by chance saw a Bharathiyar Statue installed in Kasi… quite unbelievable… but when memories recollected… we remembered that Poet Bharathi stayed in Kasi for few years with his aunt, learnt Sanskrit, Vedas etc. He even removed his sacred thread and left in the Ganges to prove  equality among all castes.

Sugathan was thrilled to see Ganges in spate and started to present dance postures to his delight at Raja Chet Singh Ghat.

The group also went to Allahabad and touched the Triveni Sangamam and visited Aalopi Temple, which is one of the important 18 Sakthi Peetams. The pilgrimage ended with devoutness and with a yearning to visit the Mystique Kasi once again.
