THYAGARAJA ARADHANA CELEBRATED (12th March, 2017)

The Mylapore Trio, Sugathan and Members of Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation celebrated Thyagaraja Aradhana for the 14th year on Sunday 12th March 2017 at the Foundation premises. Smt. Bhagyalakshmi Suresh and disciples (Founder and Director of Ganapriya School of Music) rendered “Pancharatna Kritis’ of Saint Thyagaraja which was very mellifluous and soaked in piety. The ambience was divinely decorated which added flavour and vibrancy. At the end of the Pooja, Mangala Aarathi was performed and Sarkarai Pongal was distributed as Prasadam to all the devotees who had gathered around fifty in number. All the members, performers and rasikas presented themselves in Traditional Attire to suit the ambience.

*TRADITIONAL ATTIRE (Dress Code of the Foundation mentioned below) is compulsory for all Participants, Parents, Children & *Rasikas during Registration, Competitions and Prize Distribution Function.

Boys: Kurtha, Pyjama (No Fancy Pants, Jeans, Cargos, T. Shirt)
Girls: upto 13 years – Paavaadai, Chokka. 14 years & above – Paavaadai, Chokka, Dhaavani, Saree.
Men: – Kurtha, Pyjama, Dhoti, Pant, Shirt (No Fancy Jeans, Cargos, T. Shirt)
Women: – Only in Saree. (No Sleeveless Chokka / Blouse for Girls & Women)
Common for all Girls - Hair Style: Single Plait (No lose hair). No Fancy Bindhis.
Pottu – Only in Red Colour / Min. Size: 8mm Round or Thilakam.

Parents & Participants must come in person, strictly adhering to *Traditional Attire  (Dress Code of the Foundation mentioned above) during Registration, Competitions and Prize Distribution Function.
A PARTICIPANT MUST TAKE PART IN MINIMUM OF 2 COMPETITIONS (COMPULSORY) excluding Participation Segment & Special Event.

Once Registered for a Competition, it will not be changed / altered / cancelled.

A Registration Fee of Rs. 100/- is charged for each Competition / Participation Segment / Special Event.
Plus Rs. 100/- towards 2 Photos (Solo & Group) - Mandatory for each Participant, taken by the Foundation during Prize Distribution Function.
Photograph will be posted on Our Blog / Facebook. Hard Copy will not be given.

Photography / Videography – Camera / Handycam by the Parents & Rasikas are strictly prohibited inside the Auditorium, during Competitions & Prize Distribution.

Competition Dates: 23rd April to 1st May, 2017. (Subject to change due to unavoidable circumstances)
Prize Distribution Function: Saturday, 24th June, 2017.

Kids Section: – Pre.KG, LKG.

All Levels:-
Sub. Junior: – Sec. A – UKG, I Std. & Sec. B – II, III Std.
Junior: – Sec. A – IV, V Std. & Sec. B – VI, VII Std.
Senior: – Sec. A – VIII, IX, X Std. & Sec. B – XI to UG.

The nature of the Festival is of Two Categories – Competition & Participation.

Solo Competitions

Kids Section – 9 Competitions (Solo).
*Competitions cannot be witnessed by the Parents & *Rasikas

Kadhamba Nadanam – Max. 3mins. (1Tamizh Song only)
Light Classical Dance, Kurathi, Kummi, Karagam, Kaavadi, Paambhu, Mayil etc.
Participant must bring only 1 Song in 1 Audio CD / Pen drive for the performance.
Multiple Tracks CD will not be entertained. Video DVD / VCD not allowed.
Audio system will be provided. Dance Costume and Make-up mandatory.
Bhakthi Paadal – Max. 3mins. (1 Tamizh Song only)
Bharatiyar Paadal – Max. 3mins. (1 Song of your choice)
Mangala Porutkal Kolam (Kolam using Auspicious Props)Max. 45mins. Use Chalk-piece for outline & fill with Auspicious Props – Real Flowers, Leaves, Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts and other Pooja Elements.
(Size 2ft X 2ft Box) Bring all materials.
Kaagitha Kalai (Origami) – Max. 30mins. Use Paper / Chart. Bring all materials.
Minimum 1 item must be made within the given time. No pre-fabricated materials allowed.
Oviyam – Max. 30mins. (Only Colouring) Bring Colour Pencils / Crayons to fill Colours in an
Outline Drawing given by us.
Paappaa Paattu (Tamizh Rhymes) – Max. 3mins. No Props.
Kadhaiyum Karuthum (Tamizh) – Max. 3mins. Thaathaa Paatti Sonna Kadhai Kadhaiyaam Kaaranamaam – தாத்தா பாட்டி சொன்ன கதை கதையாà®®் காரணமாà®®். No Props.
Maaruvedam (Fancy Dress) (Tamizh) – Max. 2mins. Topic: Uravugalin Kadhapaathirangal (Koottukudithanam / Thanikudithanam) – உறவுகளின் கதாபாத்திà®°à®™்கள் (கூட்டுகுடித்தனம்  / தனிக்குடித்தனம்). Props allowed, No Backdrops.

All Levels– 18 Competitions (Solo).

Category 1 – Performing Arts:-
Kadhamba Nadanam – Max. 3mins. (1 Tamizh Song only)

Category 2 – Fine Arts:-

Vaazhtthu Madal (Greeting Card) – Max. 45mins. Bring all materials. Can be created with any material, Should be Creative / Innovative / Artistic. Only 1 Card must be made within the given time.

Oviyam – Max. 1 Hr. Topic: Graamamum Nagaramum – கிà®°ாமமுà®®் நகரமுà®®்.
Chart alone will be provided by us. (Chart Size A4 = 21 x 29.7cm). Bring all other Materials.
Can use Colour Pencils / Crayons / Water / Poster Colours / Oil Pastel / Sketch Pens.
Kaivinai Porul – Max. 1½ Hrs. Topic: Kalyana Seervarisai – கல்யாண சீà®°்வரிசைBring all materials.

Sub. Junior – Sec.B / Junior / Senior – Pen & Paper. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
Katturai Potti (Tamizh) – Max. 1Hr. Topic: Kudumbam Oru Kadhambam – குடுà®®்பம் à®’à®°ு கதம்பம்.
Min. 250 words. Ruled Paper alone will be provided. Bring Writing Pad, Pencil, Pen etc.
