On the Occasion of Deepavali, The Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna along with SUMUKHAM Family members First time Celebrated it on a grand scale... by presenting themselves in colourful gorgeous Attire. Earlier... only Trio used to fire crackers... enjoyed by Octogenarians...
This time it was joyous, colourful especially because of the participation of all the Families with their Children and Relatives. Thanks to all the SUMUKHAM Family members for adding energy, colour and excitement to the Deepavali celebrations. Deepavali Bakshanams were shared with Joy by One and All.
Colourful Fireworks were fired by young and old at both the places... at the Main Entrance and the Terrace. It was a Spectacular Deepavali indeed.

"SUMUKHAM KALAKSHETRAM" - Inaugurated by The Mylapore Trio.
To
Commemorate the 71st Wedding Day of their Foster Parents Sumukhi Rajasekharan
on Friday 27th October 2023, "The Mylapore Trio" - Amarnath
Surendranath Aparna Inaugurated (Named their House at R.A. Puram)
"SUMUKHAM KALAKSHETRAM" (Temple of Culture) where in the Trio is
planning to conduct Cultural and Spiritual Programmes regularly.
On
the Inaugural day, the First Programme was a Talk given by Dr. Vidya Sainath
(Ph.D in Philosophy). She rendered an interesting Lecture on SKANDA. "The
Mylapore Trio" too shared their inputs on Lord Muruga, based on History
and Philosophy. People near and dear participated.
Since
their Foster Parents were ardent Devotees of Lord Muruga and their Wedding
happened at Thiruttani, a statue of Lord Shanmugha was place in the dias and
decorated. Underneath their Parents photograph was placed in a traditional 4
pillared Mandapam. Sumptuous Traditional Feast was offered to All.

Innovative "PANCHA PADI OONJAL GOLU" - 2023
"The
Mylapore Trio" - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna celebrates the 71st
Navarathri Golu from 15th to 24th October 2023, at their "SUMUKHAM ILLAM."
The Golu's Design and Structure is very Innovative and Creative. The Theme is
"PANCH PADI OONJAL GOLU" (5 Swinging Steps). It's based on both
Tradition and Innovation.
The
5 "Oonjal Steps" are designed like a pyramid structure from 1 foot to
5 feet. These Oonjals are covered with traditional Paai (Mats) design. The
Oonjal ropes are tied with real-look flower garlands, which are Amazing and Beautiful.
The
5 Oonjal steps are filled with the Must Dolls or the Basic dolls of a
Traditional Golu Ganesha, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Shiva, Vishnu,
Dasavatharam, Marapaachi Pair, Chettiyar & Chettichi etc. The Golu room is
traditionally decorated with Maayilai Thoranam and Poo Maalais on the walls and
Vaayil Thoranam as Backdrop. The Golu was organised by the Mylapore Trio at
"SUMUKHAM ILLAM" in the (Common Room). The Members of the Sumukham
Apartments join the celebration.

SUMUKHAM - Ganesh Chathurthi Pooja Celebration - 17th September 2023
The
Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna worshipped Lord Ganesha along
with Sumukham Family members who presented
themselves in gorgeous in South Indian Traditional Attire. Sumukham is another
name for Lord Ganesha and hence each and everyone in the Apartment were
enthusiastic to participate. Ganesh Festival is more relevant here than
elsewhere. The dias was colourfully decorated with a huge Colourful Ganesha,
songs were sung and after Deeparaathanai, traditional feast was served to one
and all.
SUMUKHAM - Krishna Jayanthi Pooja Celebration - 7th September 2023
The
Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna Celebrated Krishna Jayanthi (A Cultural Get together of SUMUKHAM Family)
on Wednesday, 6th September 2023, at Sumukham Illam and all the members
presented themselves in gorgeous South Indian Traditional Attire. Popular songs
on Lord Krishna like Krishna Nee Begane
Baaro, were sung by singers of Sumukham. The backdrop was aesthetically
decorated and a life size Standing Krishna Idol was majestically placed on the
top of a dias. Aarthi was performed and traditional dinner was served to all
devotees of Sumukham.
SUMUKHAM - Varalakshmi Pooja Celebration - 25th August 2023
The
Mylapore Trio Organised "Community Varalakshmi Vritam" in the
Sumukham Flats at RA Puram. Recently The Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath,
Aparna Celebrated Varalakshmi Viratam at their Sumukham Flats as Community
Festival. For the First Time that a Pooja of this kind is Organised as a Common
Festival in a Flat system... It's an Innovative Concept and a New Venture
indeed. Of course generally Independence day, Golu and social gatherings are
organised in all other Flats but no where Varalakshmi Viratam is celebrated in
common. The Pooja was a Cultural Get together of all members of
"Sumukham Family" who all
presented themselves in gorgeous South Indian Traditional Attire.
The
Sumukham ILLAM - the Multipurpose Room was Colourfully decorated by the Trio
with Pink and Lotus as the Theme for the backdrop. These silk cotton zari woven
sarees were designed by Suren. (Goddess Lakshmi is known for pink. She is
called Padmakshi, Padmanilayam, Alarmel Mangai). At 6.30pm All Members
assembled at the Trio's Oonjal in their Car Park area. On request of Smt.Subha,
her Oonjal saree was draped on Our Oonjal and Goddess Varalakshmi was placed on
the Jula - a great bhaagyam indeed. Smt.Meenakshi lighted the Kuthuvilakku.
Trio
and other Families individually swayed
the Oonjal and felt it was a blessing and joy to do so. Smt.
Champakalakshmi performed Aarathi and while "Kanyas" - Varshini,
Trisha, Meena and Kum.Ananya sang famous songs like "Bhaagyatha Lakshmi
Bhaaramma and Lakhmi Raavema Intiki" Trio formally Conducted the Goddess
Varalakshmi in a procession with all paraphernalia. "Srimathis" -
Meenakshi, Subha, Sripriya, Hema, Nitya, Champakalakshmi and "Bala Tripura
Sundaries" - Sukriti and Ananya carried the "Offerings" - Silver
Lamp, Flowers, Fruits, Thambulam etc. in procession from Oonjal to Illam.
Then
Mylapore Trio placed the Goddess inside the beautifully carved wooden Mandapam
with a traditional mirror behind. A big fibre Image of Srirangam Ranganayaki Thaayar
was placed atop and antique Varalakshmi doll beneath. Amarnath bedecked the
Goddess with jewelry. Surendranth decorated the the Goddess with handmade
"Thazham poo Jadai" (made by him with cupine flower) & offered
garlands. Aparna made Panjuvasthram Manjal Saradu. While All Women, Members and
Children rendered Lakshmi Ashtakam, Aparna offered Neivedhyam and performed
Deeparathanai. She offered Thamboolam to one and all and tied Majal saradu to
all women and girls. A small antique picture of Varalakshmi (reworked by
Surendranath) was presented to them. Finally all of them offered Flowers to the
Goddess and enjoyed a sumptuos dinner offered by the Trio as Prasadam.
The
Traditional Menu included Akkaravadisal, Puli Sevai, Aviyal, Kal Dosai, Thengai
Chutney, Thayir Saadam and Puli inji and Karuvadaam served on a plantain leaf
and paaku mara thattu. The Sumukham Illam was aesthetically decorated with
Traditional Maayilai, Thoranam, Maakolam with Kaavi by the Trio The Varalakshmi
Mukham is 70 yrs old (it belongs to Trio's Foster Parents Sumukhi Rajasekharan
in whose remembrance the Flat is named as Sumukham). Mylapore Trio since
childhood has been performing these kind
of festivals at home all by themselves trained by their Foster Parents. To
share their rich cultural experience they were conducting Pooja workshops known
as "Pooja Vidhanam" for women, men, children to learn the
"Knowhow" - A - Z of major Poojas and Festivals for more than 20
years under the banner of their Foundation.
That auspicious Friday evening was entirely a "Different Experience and Feel" altogether which residents of a Flat system could not even dream of such kind of a Cultural and Spiritual get together...
