SUMUKHAM - Republic Day Celebration 2024.


The Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna Organised and Celebrated India's 75th Republic Day at the "SUMUKHAM" Terrace on Friday, 26th January 2024. Families of Sumukham Apartments participated. Dr.Amarnath of the Mylapore Trio who is a Professor of History explained the significance and the importance of the Republic Day.

The Indian Tricolour made of Original Khaddar was majestically placed on top. The Mylapore Trio welcomed the gathering and paid Flower Tributes to Our National Flag along with children Aadarsh and Ananya. The Trio were present in a combination of classic White and Apple Green shades. All members of the SUMUKHAM Family presented themselves in the relevant colourful costumes.

Ananya sang patriotic songs like "Thaayin Manikodi Paareer and "Bharatha Deviyin Manikodi Paareer". Trisha rendered "Bharatha samudaayam vaazhgave", "Jayathi Jayathi Bharatha Maatha" etc.

Shri.Narayanan - a Nonagenarian shared a few words on his childhood experiences and congratulated the Mylapore Trio in organising the event and wished success in their value based cultural endeavours.

All Heads of families shared their wishes and joy with One and All. The Function ended up with a Group Photo and the National Anthem. This was followed by a Traditional Breakfast in the "National Tri-Colour" Asoka Halwa (Saffron) Iddlies (White) Pudhina Chutney (Green) along with Pongal, mixed vegetable Sambhar and Vadai. Indeed a classic touch of Nationalism.

We all carried Home Rich Memories of the Great Indian Republic. Jai Hind.

On the Occasion "Thai Pongal" January 2024, The Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna Organised Pongal Festival at "SUMUKHAM ILLAM". Families of SUMUKHAM Kudumbham Celebrated the Festival.

Report - "Margazhi Veedhi Ula" - 1st January, 2024.

 

The Mylapore Trio - Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna of "SUMUKHAM KALAKSHETRAM" conducted the 22nd year Spiritual and Cultural Walk on Monday, 1st January, 2024 around the 4 Mada Streets of Mylapore. The event began at Theradi at 6.30am with a Ganesha Sthuthi and ended by 8.30am at Vaaniyar Mandapam. The group mostly consisted of Mylaporeans and non Mylaporeans too, who liked the culture of the place. As born and groomed in Mylapore, The Veedhi Ula Kuzhu led by the Mylapore Trio (Mylai Moovar) explain the histories of iconic buildings and institutions on the Mada Streets and explain their significance. Mylapore Trio shared their Childhood Memories and Association with these landmarks...

1.Kapali Temple, 2.Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, 3.Lady Sivaswami School, 4.Chitrakulam and Gandhi Statue, 5.Saayibu Vaazhai ilai shop (Plantain leaves), 6.Rajarajeswari Paada Saalai - School,  7.Valleeswarar Temple, 8.Hindu Permanent Fund Office, 9.Leo Coffee Shop 10.Temple Agraharam Street, 11.Mangollai - A Historic site where great political leaders rendered speeches, 12.Vaaniyar Mandapam - "Vaira Swamy" rests for a while during the Arupatthu Moovar Festival, 13.Nadu Street - The Ula ended by visiting the old house at Nadu Street  belonging to the "Balas" who were Family Friends of the Trio for decades. Hot Venpongal with Chutney and Sambhar and Filter Coffee were served to all.

The Group consisting of The Mylapore Trio and Mylaporeans like Ravibala, Sivabala, Bharathi, Sripriya, Trisha, Yogesh and also Non Mylaporeans. They met many Acquaint ants of Mylapore (either who were born here or living here for decades) and reminiscence decades' of nostalgic past and stories of 50 years with them. A few of them were Kapali Temple Rukmini Ramani Nadhaswara Vidhwan, Thiruvilayadal Bala Murugan (of Thiruvilayadal Movie) Nanjunda Rao family, Singers Randini & Roshni's Mother and few other traditional Mylaporeans who were all known to the Mylapore Trio and others.

The Mylapore Trio were born and brought up in Mylapore. Their Foster Parents Sumukhi Rajasekharan were great Philanthropists of Mylapore since 1950. Trio's Biological Parents and Grand Mother Nagammal were all Mylaporeans and all lived in and around the Kapali Temple for decades till their last breath.

The Trio quoted a few lines of the famous song from the movie "Miss Malini" 1947 (Mylapore Vakkeel Aathu Maattu Ponnaaven) to highlight the Prestige of being a Proud Mylaporean. There were also people from other parts of Chennai in the group who were thrilled to know about the Old Stories and Personalities. Reminiscences, Anecdotes, Histories, Stories on People's lifestyle and antiquity of buildings were discussed.

It was an  experience of going through the Memory Lanes of Mylapore through 5 Decades of 50 golden years. Team "Margazhi Veedhi Ula" finally went round the Temple and carried Memories of Mylapore with them.
