12th Year "Navarathri Golu Paddhathi" Workshop. ( September Month Kala Poshakam Programme ) 2015



“SRI SUMUKHI RAJASEKHARAN BIRTH CENTENARY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP” Instituted at Besant Theosophical Hr. Sec. School, Kalakshetra Foundation.



“The Mylapore Trio” Amarnath, Surendranath, Aparna has instituted an Endowment for Fifty Thousand Rupees in the name of their foster grandparents “SRI SUMUKHI RAJASEKHARAN BIRTH CENTENARY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP” to the economically backward students at Besant Theosophical Higher Secondary School, Kalakshetra, Thiruvanmiyur, on 11th September 2015. The proceeds of the Deposit would be given as Scholarships to needy and meritorious students from Classes 6th to 10th Std. This was a part of the Commemoration of the Birth Centenary of Sri. C. Rajasekharan, who was a double M.A. and Freedom Fighter under Rajaji. He and his wife Smt. Sumukhi were great Philanthropists and “Celebrities of Charity” in Mylapore who were very closely associated with Kalakshetra and Rukmini Devi. Jagada Teacher of Kalakshetra was Rajasekharan’s cousin. Smt. Sumukhi was the Principal in charge at B.A.Sr.Sec.School. She also initiated and implemented the Mid-Day Meals Scheme during early 70s at Besant Theosophical High School, Kalakshetra. The Mylapore Trio is also alumni of these great institutions. The Endowment cheque was handed over by The Mylapore Trio and Sugathan to Smt. Priyadarshini Govind - Director, Kalakshetra Foundation, Smt. Saraswathi - The Administrative Officer of Kalakshetra Foundation, is also seen in the Picture.

Rajasekharan (Trio’s Foster Grand Father) who was a relative of Pennathur Subramaniya Iyer, and both hailed from the erstwhile North Arcot District. Sri. C. Rajasekharan was a double M.A. and Freedom Fighter under Rajaji and he and his wife Smt. Sumukhi were great Philanthropists and “Celebrities of Charity”  Mylapore.
